Rolex - New Oyster Perpetual Explorer Ref. 214270

Showcased at Baselworld 2016, the new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer introduces an entirely luminescent display for enhanced legibility.

The model’s characteristic 3, 6 and 9 numerals, the hour markers and the hands - all of them crafted from white gold - are now filled with Chromalight, a luminescent material emitting a long-lasting blue glow.

The hands are now broader and longer compared to the previous version.

The Explorer’s Oyster case, guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres / 330 feet, is crafted from corrosion-resistant 904L stainless steel and has a diameter of 39 mm.

The fluted case back is hermetically screwed down with a special tool that allows only Rolex watchmakers to access the calibre 3132, a self-winding 4 Hz (28,800 vph) mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex and featuring a blue Parachrom hairspring insensitive to magnetic fields and particularly resistant to temperature variations and shocks. It offers a power reserve of 48 hours.

The Explorer is fitted on a solid-link Oyster bracelet in 904L steel with an Oysterlock safety clasp that prevents accidental opening. It features the Rolex-patented Easylink rapid extension system that allows the wearer to easily increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm.

The new Explorer carries the Superlative Chronometer certification applied to the fully assembled watch, after casing the movement, to guarantee precision, power reserve, waterproofness and self-winding. The precision of a Rolex Superlative Chronometer after casing is of the order of −2/+2 seconds per day. The price of the new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer Ref. 214270 is Euro 6,050. rolex.com
