TAG Heuer continues the celebration of its 160th anniversary with the release of a second collector’s edition (you can read about the first one here), the Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition.
“Montreal” was the name of a collection of sporty Heuer automatic chronographs from the 1970s. Now, TAG Heuer blends the Montreal design and its colourful dial with the Carrera of today.
More in particular, the new TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition is directly inspired by the White Heuer Montreal, reference 110503W, which launched in 1972.
For the new anniversary edition, that will be limited to just 1,000 pieces, TAG Heuer borrowed the original red, yellow and blue colour palette of the White Heuer Montreal. It was in those years that new coloured luminescent materials became available opening new possibilities in terms of creativity.
Protected by a domed “glassbox” sapphire crystal, three blue “azurage” counters stand out against a matt white dial. The chronograph minute counter at 3 o’clock features three curved lines from 1 to 5, 10 to 15, and 20 to 25 that are coloured with yellow Super-LumiNova, also used for the central minute and hour hands. The red lacquer of the central chronograph seconds hand enhances the sportiness of the watch.
The 39 mm polished stainless steel case houses the brand’s Calibre Heuer 02, a manufacture movement that is just 6.95 mm thick and that comprises 168 components, including a column wheel and a vertical clutch: the first contributes to more accurate and precise functionality – noticeable through the smooth impulse when manipulating the pushers - while the second improves the precision of the start-and-stop functions as well as the running of the chronograph second hand to ensure that there is no loss of time when using the chronograph function.
Beating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), this innovative movement boasts a remarkable power reserve of 80 hours.
The individual limited-edition number of each piece is engraved on the case back, where the innovative Calibre Heuer 02 and its dedicated oscillating mass are showcased through the sapphire crystal. The watch is water resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet (10 bar).
Matched to a blue alligator leather strap matching the colourful dial, the new TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition ref. CBK221C.FC6488 will be available exclusively in TAG Heuer boutiques and online shop in July 2020. Its retail price is Euro 6,150 / US$ 6,750. tagheuer.com

I like this model a lot although the link with the Montreal is just in some colours. I don't see a real connection with the vintage piece. But, again, I like it a lot.
