IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Moon Phase. Timelessly elegant, the Portofino collection was first introduced by IWC Schaffhausen in 1984. As a tribute to that iconic watch from the 1980s, IWC is now presenting the Portofino Hand-Wound Moon Phase Ref. 5164. The 45 mm case is available in stainless steel or in red gold, the first with a silver-plated dial, gold-plated hands and gold-plated appliqués (Ref. IW516401), the second with slate-coloured dial, gold-plated hands and solid gold appliqués (Ref. IW516403). Prices start at Euro 13,400 / US$ 13,000 for the the stainless steel version.

The first model of the family - the Portofino Hand-Wound with Moon Phase Ref. 5251 - was designed on the basis of the Lépine pocket watch sporting an impressive 46 mm case.

As a tribute to that iconic watch from the 1980s, IWC is now presenting the Portofino Hand-Wound Moon Phase Ref. 5164.

For this new model, the IWC engineers enhanced the basic Calibre 59000 with a moon phase module that only needs to be adjusted by one day after 122 years.

Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and beautifully refined with Côtes de Genève and perlage, this hand wound movement, Calibre 59800, offers an outstanding power reserve of 192 hours or 8 days.

The 45 mm case is available in stainless steel or in red gold, the first with a silver-plated dial, gold-plated hands and gold-plated appliqués (Ref. IW516401), the second with slate-coloured dial, gold-plated hands and solid gold appliqués (Ref. IW516403).
