Patek Philippe - Annual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 5960/1A Black Dial

When it was launched at Baselworld 2014, the Patek Philippe Ref. 5960/1A Annual Calendar Chronograph in steel was a surprise for many. In fact, Patek Philippe had rarely used steel cases for its complication watches with the exception of the sporty Nautilus and Aquanaut lines.

That model had a pretty unconventional dial with a silvery opaline background and several details in black oxidised gold: the chronograph scale, the three contoured frames for the calendar apertures, the eight pointed-baton hour markers, as well as the 12-hour counter scale at 6 o'clock.

The 2014 model: ref. 5960/1A-001

The result was a three-dimensional effect with a sporty look enhanced by the striking red accents.

This year, on occasion of the Baselworld trade show (March 23-30, 2017), Patek Philippe will introduce a new version - reference 5960/1A-010 - where the colour scheme of the dial has been inverted with an ebony black opaline background.

All the other features have not changed. The 40.5 mm round case is perfectly polished, just like the matching five rows bracelet.

The Patek Philippe CH 28-520 IRM QA 24H calibre - with flyback chronograph, annual calendar as well as power-reserve and day/night indications - beats with a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour (4 hertz), which assures a constant balance amplitude and thus high rate accuracy. A heavy central rotor in 21K gold winds the watch automatically.

It is reasonable to expect that the price of the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph with black dial (Ref. 5960/1A-010) will be the same of the white dial version (Ref. 5960/1A-001), i.e. around Euro 47,000 / US$ 51,000.
