Hamilton - Khaki X-Wind, new models

The aviation heritage of Hamilton dates back to 1914 when the brand became an official supplier to the US Armed Forces. In 1919, a Hamilton watch was used on the first US postal service flight between Washington and New York.

In line with its roots, Hamilton is launching four new references for its Khaki Aviation X-Wind line.

The aviation link is clearly evident in the design of the new Khaki X-Wind Auto Chrono, whose large 45 mm black PVD-coated stainless steel case underscores the technical nature of the watch.

Its dial features the world’s first drift angle calculator in a watch. When an aircraft is flying in a crosswind situation, a correction must be made in order to keep it from being blown away from its desired path. This correction is called the "Drift Angle" and can be calculated with the Khaki X-Wind Auto Chrono operating on the two crowns at 2 and 4 o'clock which control the lower and upper bezel respectively.

Water-resistant to 10 bars (100 meters / 330 feet), the Khaki X-Wind Auto Chrono is powered by a Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement that has been modified into the Hamilton calibre  H-21 – upping the power reserve to 60 hours.

Completed by a black leather strap with a stainless steel H-buckle with black PVD coating, the Hamilton Khaki X-Wind Auto Chrono (ref. H77736733 ) has a suggested retail price of Swiss Francs 2,150.

The Khaki X-Wind line also include a Day Date version which maintains several design codes of the X-Wind Auto Chrono.

The 45 mm case - water resistant to 10 bars (100 meters / 330 feet) - is available in stainless steel or in black PVD-coated steel with a choice of steel bracelet or leather straps.

All feature large Arabic numerals and pilot flat hands with Super-LumiNova treatment, orange details and the large day date window at 9 o’clock.

The Khaki X-Wind Day Date is powered by the Hamilton H-30 automatic movement, which is based on the ETA 2836-2 with extensive modifications to further improve reliability and precision as well as power reserve, here boosted to 80 hours.

The price of the Hamilton Khaki X-Wind Day Date is Swiss Francs 1,075. hamiltonwatch.com
