MeisterSinger - “Peter Henlein” Limited Edition

MeisterSinger announced a 15-piece limited edition watch dedicated to Peter Henlein, a locksmith and clockmaker born in Nuremberg in 1479 which is considered one of the inventors of the portable clocks that in the Renaissance began to be worn as pendants or attached to clothing, in some way the precursors of modern wearable timepieces.

Differently from the typical single-hand watches produced by the German watchmaker, the "Peter Henlein" Limited Edition places the hour digits radially but also in a second circle with Roman numerals.

The watch is also fitted with a second hand as this is a prerequisite for obtaining the Swiss COSC certification, which makes the "Peter Henlein" edition the first MeisterSinger chronometer.

The movement of choice is the hand-wound MSH01 calibre, the same used in MeisterSinger’s premium line, the Circularis.

Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, it beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a long power reserve of over 5 days thanks to the twin in-series mainspring barrels evidenced by the unusual design of the  bridge, which in this version is gold-plated.

The bright dial is framed by an 18-karat gold case, 43 mm in diameter and waterproof up to 50 metres / 165 feet.

The MeisterSinger "Peter Henlein" Limited Edition has a price of Euro 14,000. meistersinger.com
