Eterna - Granges 1856

Eterna is launching the Granges 1856, a new model featuring the world’s thinnest automatic movement with a large date indication.

The new watch takes its name from the town where Eterna (at the time "Dr. Girard & Schild") was established in 1856. You can read the rich history of the brand following the link at the end of the article.

With its high-precision manufacture movement, the beautifully shaped slim case and the sun-brushed domed dial available in several colours, the Granges 1856 well represents the savoir-faire of a watchmaker which has a very important place in the history of watchmaking.

Produced in limited editions of 100 pieces for each dial version, the Granges 1856 is available for purchase exclusively via the Eterna website, with the possibility to have a message of choice engraved on the left side of the baseband.

Thanks to its Calibre 3030, the world’s thinnest automatic movement fitted with a "large date" display, the Granges 1856 is just 9.8 mm thick. The profile of the 42 mm stainless steel is beautifully sculpted with lightly curved lugs which make the watch very comfortable to wear.

Hours, minutes and seconds hands follow the gentle curvature of the dial which offers excellent readability with the large date standing out at first sight.

The dial is presented in silver, black, or blue with 3, 6, 9 Arabic numerals as well as in silver or charcoal with Roman numerals. Each model version can be matched to either a calf leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet with double folding clasp.

The radiant sun-brushed finishing, combined with the dial curvature, produces different colour nuances as the lighting of the environment changes.

The result of over six years of extensive research and development and entirely designed, produced and assembled in the Eterna manufacture, the automatic Calibre 3030 has a total height of 4.63 mm and is characterised by a lens shape.

Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a power reserve of 48 hours, the movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case back.

Water resistant to 50 metres / 165 feet, the price of the Eterna Granges 1856 starts at Euro 5,300 / US 5,000. More information in the dedicated area of the Eterna web site. eterna.com
