Just like its name - Diagono comes from the Ancient Greek word "agôn", a term referring to a competition - the new Diagono Magnesium Chronograph expresses a sense of high-performance with its bold look and high-tech materials.
The 42.5 mm case is made with a combination of magnesium, ceramic, high-grade plastic called PEEK and black PVD-treated stainless steel.
Chosen for its lightness and durability, magnesium is here enhanced with PEEK, an acronym for PolyEtherEtherKetone, an ultra-sturdy and light polymer whose properties are partially similar to those of the ceramic from which the bezel (engraved with the Bulgari logo) of the Diagono Magnesium is made: lightness, extreme wear and scratch resistance.
A high-performance lacquer called Motorlac is then used to coat the magnesium surfaces, including the dial, to create a visually pleasant granulated texture and colourful new reflective effects. Not a purely ornamental or decorative element, Motorlac allows materials to withstand extreme temperatures or variations in the expansion of materials.
Finally, black PVD-treated stainless steel is used for the caseback, the crown and the chronograph pushers.
For the Diagono Magnesium Chronograph, Bulgari designers developed four proprietary shades: black, grey, blue and red.
The B130 calibre powering this model is a mechanical self-winding chronograph movement with chronograph central seconds hand as well as hours, minutes and seconds subdials. Beating at 28,800 vph with a 42-hour power reserve, it is just 6.10 mm thick.
