Breitling - Chronomat 44 Blacksteel

Breitling brings some originality in its Chronomat line with the Chronomat 44 Blacksteel, a new pilot chronograph featuring an all-black case and unusual square counters.

The 44 mm x 16.95 mm steel case is treated with a high-resistance carbon-based black coating which delivers to the watch a technical yet aggressive look.

To match the case, the ratcheted, unidirectional rotating bezel features black rubber-inlaid numerals and a large luminescent dot to facilitate the countdown of flight or dive measurements.

The dial is also black with three square counters and red accents. The cambered sapphire crystal is glareproofed on both sides.

Thanks to the screw-lock crown and push pieces, the Chronomat 44 Blacksteel is water-resistant to 200 m (660 ft) offering a reliable protection to the Breitling Calibre 01 selfwinding chronograph movement, powered by a black oscillating weight visible through the transparent caseback.

Beating at 28,800 vph and offering more than 70 hours of power reserve, the movement is certified as a chronometer by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute or COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres).

The Breitling Chronomat 44 Blacksteel is completed by a beautiful and robust high-tech fabric strap with a rubber lining for enhanced comfort. Retail price is around Euro 8,900 / US$ 9,600.
