Pre-SIHH 2015: Parmigiani Fleurier - Tonda 1950 Squelette

As a preview of the novelties prepared for the SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie) 2015, Parmigiani Fleurier presented a squelette version of its Tonda 1950 model.

Housed in a 39 mm case with a thickness of just 8.4 mm, the self-winding movement has been openworked entirely by hand with the highest attention to finishing quality, as demonstrated by the delicate internal angles of bridges and main plate.

Comprising 144 components, the PF705 calibre runs at 21,600 vibrations per hours with a power reserve of 42 hours. Since the platinum micro-rotor is visible also on the surface of the watch, and not just on the back of the movement, the usually unseen face has been decorated with a pattern formed of Parmigiani Fleurier's iconic lugs.

Made from sapphire, the dial of the Tonda 1950 Squelette is invisible. Only the metallised rim, bearing the Parmigiani Fleurier logo and the hour markers, allows the wearer to detect it.

Differently, the ladies' model features a subtly frosted dial, with a translucent misty effect which, combined to the diamond-set bezel, makes the watch markedly feminine. This frosted dial also echoes the grained white finish of the original Tonda 1950.

Both men and women versions of the Tonda 1950 Squelette are available in white gold or rose gold with beautiful Hermès straps.
