Pre-SIHH 2015: Cartier - Rotonde Astrotourbillon Skeleton

When it was first introduced in 2010, the Rotonde de Cartier Astrotourbillon created lot of buzz for its tourbillon making a complete circle of the dial.

In 2014, as a preview of SIHH 2015 novelties, Cartier announces a new version of this high-end model: the Rotonde Astrotourbillon Skeleton.

Entirely skeletonised, the main plate of the 9461 MC movement rests on the XII and VI Roman numerals. Almost suspended in space, the tourbillon makes a complete circle of the dial in a minute so marking the seconds while sword-shaped blue hands indicate hours and minutes.

The hand-wound movement is composed of 233 parts, beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.

The typical Rotonde case is made of polished white gold with the signature sapphire cabochon to enrich the crown. With a whopping 47 mm diameter and a thickness of 15.5 mm, the Astrotourbillon Skeleton is, for sure, an imposing timepiece.

A limited series of 100 numbered pieces, the Rotonde de Cartie Astrotourbillon Skeleton is matched to a black alligator-skin strap with a double adjustable folding buckle.
