In 1948 Eterna innovated the self-winding mechanical movements by introducing a ball baring-mounted low-friction rotor system known as the "Eterna Matic".
The 1948 Legacy Big Date, presented by Eterna in 2014, features a proprietary self-winding mechanical movement, the calibre 3030, fitted with a ball-bearing device similar to the original’s. This thin movement - height is just 4.83 mm - beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers 48 hours of power reserve.
The classic design of the 41.50 mm case, with the typically incurved case lugs, is directly inspired to the 1948 model. In stainless steel with bezel and crown in rose gold, it frames a silver-toned dial enhanced with gold-plated baton hour markers and hands. The large date at 3 o'clock is fast switching and can be changed at any time.
The Eterna 1948 Legacy Big Date in steel and rose gold (ref. 76188.8.131.520) is matched to a brown alligator leather strap with a folding clasp and has a retail price of 8,500 Swiss Francs.
