Girard-Perregaux - Neo-Tourbillon with Three Bridges

The first Tourbillon with Three Bridges model was created by Girard-Perregaux nearly 150 years ago becoming one of the most iconic timepieces of the watchmaker based in La-Chaux-de-Fonds.

While the continuity with the original idea is preserved, the latest interpretation presented by Girard-Perregaux, the Neo-Tourbillon with Three Bridges, showcases many innovative contents both in terms of design and materials used.

The three bridges have been skeletonized to give them an even more lightweight appearance. Made of titanium, a metal that is 45% lighter than steel, they are sandblasted down before receiving a black PVD treatment.
The bridges are secured to two integral shafts of the mainplate that are positioned vertically, thus presenting an inclined plane. This construction, creating a sense of depth, forms a slope in the centre where the movement parts are housed. Treated with ruthenium anthracite and then sandblasted, the grey mainplate creates a nice contrast with the black bridges.
Made of pink gold with alternating satin-finished and polished surfaces, the case has no bezel. In fact, the sapphire glass has been created in the shape of an anti-reflective box-like window, allowing the wearer to observe the mechanics from different points of view. This anti-reflective crystal was carefully designed in order to prevent any visual distortion.
The tourbillon cage is positioned at 6 o'clock while at 12 o'clock we find the barrel offering approximately 70 hours of power reserve. The power reserve has been increased by integrating a larger barrel drum, which allows a longer spring to be used.

The tourbillon, featuring 80 components for a total weight of only 0,25 grams, completes a full rotation in 1 minute. It has been made for the first time from titanium. With a special black colour, the balance is variable thanks to gold regulating screws.
Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, the automatic GP09400 calibre is comprised of 245 components. The white gold micro-rotor is located entirely under the barrel. On the back, an arrow-shaped bridge spans the entire width of the beautifully finished movement.

The Neo-Tourbillon with Three Bridges fits within a diameter of 45 mm and is 14.45 mm in height. Water-resistant up to 30 meters, it features an alligator strap with a pink gold folding buckle.
